Maaz (19) first came to the US at a very young age with his family when his father was transferred to Houston. He completed the major part of his school in Houston but during the last year in high school he moved to U.A.E. when his father’s job was transferred there. He came back to US on a full-time scholarship, and was currently studying at University of Texas in Dallas . His younger brother, Irbaz, is also a student at the same university. He and his family had been very active in the Muslim community and the Dawah activities here. He was also very active in the UTD MSA.

The rest of his family is currently out of the country, so he has very little support. You can imagine the pain his mother and father may be going through. May Allah give them patience to bear this great trial and make their son free again.

You can read more about his arrest on this article: UTD sophomore faces federal gun charges following FBI arrest in WP

You are urged to write to him to show your support at his address:

Aameen Summa Aameen!!

Subhanallah, When did this happen? I’ve known Maaz for a while now since we first met at the MSA Texas Constellation last April. Never knew he is under tribulation. May Allah give his parents the patience and make him free soon.

Ma’az is my friend and buddy ! He is guilty of nothing but being a good American. Thomas Jefferson said, ” Dissent is the greatest form of Patriotism.” His mistake is only being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I respect him and shall work hard to free him legally. Why don’t they go and spend their $170,000 catching real terrorists, instead of bribing people to spy on poor Muslims in the mosques ? The FBI should hold town hall meetings and build bridges with the Muslim community, not spy on them.
Let us no longer be silent to these injustices !
IMMIGRANT MUSLIMS – we told you to build alliances with the mainstream people – NO ! You chose to live in your ghettos and just talk about forcing people to grow beards and wear Paki clothes and forcing women to wear hijaab – was that all your revolution was about ?
Maaz talked about a sensible complete change – I wish he is released so that more people can benefit from his intelligence, brilliant writings and wisdom !
We shall bring buses from Dallas for his court case !
